Learning to Hold your Hook and Yarn

There are many ways to hold your project but this can get you thinking on what will be the most comfortable for you and your hands.

Slip Knot

A slip knot makes it easier to start your project since now you will have your yarn tight around your hook

Single Crochet on top of your Foundation

Simple Crochet is a super important stitch that you will use with everything, watch and learn how to add simple crochet to your foundation layer of chain stitches.

3. Going into the second stitch from your hook, complete 20 single crochets across


4. Complete 1 chain stitch and turn, and complete one more row of 20 single crochet

Half Double Crochet

Now that we know how to complete chain stitch, and single crochet and turn our piece around we can learn another very common stitch


5. complete 1 chain stitch and turn, completing 20 half double crochet across

Double Crochet Stitch

Double crochet stitch is nearly twice as tall as our single crochet stitch and is a very useful one to know


6. Complete 1 chain and turn complete 20 double crochet across, finish off!
